About the Chef...

Rossano Giannini is the Executive Chef and owner of Lanterna Tuscan Bistro.  Born and raised in Lucca, Italy, Chef Giannini attended the Culinary Institute F. Martini in Montecantini Terme and perfected his culinary skills throughout the Toscana region.

As a world traveler, Chef Giannini brought the flavors of Tuscany to the unlikely locals of Egypt and Asia.  While there, his culinary skills wowed travelers, business people, and diplomats alike.  In 1995, as Chef Giannini’s reputation grew, he traveled to New York City where he served as chef to several Manhattan Restaurants.

In April 2000, Chef Giannini and his wife Maureen ventured out to open Lanterna Tuscan Bistro, Nyack, NY.  Here, Chef Giannini uses his culinary skill to create and serve the flavors of Tuscany to Nyack and the surrounding community.

Today, Chef Giannini is involved in all aspects of his restaurant’s operation; from inside the kitchen to the front of the house, he loves his work.  Outside of the restaurant, he has served as a contributor to national publications as well as a consulting chef.  He has been a featured chef at the James Beard Foundation and The Italian Culinary Center.    In his spare time, Chef Giannini coaches his son Patrick’s soccer team and he works as a professional soccer referee for several local soccer organizations.

He is grateful for his dedicated staff and thankful for the love of his family.
